Hypnotherapy involves the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it, you are actually in an enhanced state of awareness.  This is when your beliefs can be changed, and new ways of thinking can be uploaded and implemented. Hypnotherapy aims to re-programme patterns of behaviour within the mind, enabling irrational fears, negative thoughts and suppressed emotion to be overcome. Hypnosis makes memories more real and ideas clearer. It can act to help you heal more rapidly, be more creative, and change for the better. Hypnotherapy involves the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it, the client is actually in an enhanced state of awareness, concentrating entirely on the hypnotherapist’s voice. In this state, the conscious mind is suppressed, and the subconscious mind is revealed. The therapist is able to suggest ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations to the client, the seeds of which become firmly planted. With the client’s intent, beliefs can be changed, and new ways of thinking can be uploaded and implemented. The word hypnosis can conjure up all sorts of images with most of these proving to be incorrect. For many years these images especially stage hypnosis acts and the like have prevented hypnotherapy from becoming more popular as people’s fears, due to false information, have dissuaded them from seeking assistance from a hypnotherapist.

Hypnotherapy has undergone periods of great fame and of great infamy, nevertheless, we owe great thanks to the pioneers of hypnosis who in the face of adversity and opposition have persisted in their efforts to understand this mysterious and under-explored phenomenon. The practice of promoting healing or positive development in any way is known as hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy aims to re-program patterns of behaviour within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome. When the client is in the relaxed trance-like state of hypnosis, breathing becomes slower and deeper, the pulse rate drops and the metabolic rate falls. Similar changes along nervous pathways and hormonal channels enable the sensation of pain to become less acute, and the awareness of unpleasant symptoms, such as nausea or indigestion, to be alleviated.

In Hypnosis the subconscious mind is more alert and susceptible to new powerful suggestions, hence being able to change beliefs. The Subconscious Mind is accessed through achieving an altered state which can happen naturally or be accessed through meditation and hypnosis. These new suggestions are uploaded directly to your Subconscious Mind. Hypnosis is a tool, not a therapy, and as such can be used to treat any human condition as long as a person’s attitude is a factor. Hypnosis can be used to achieve and facilitate desired outcomes in many areas of life, such as medical, dental, forensic, education, sports and psychotherapy.

Hypnotherapy Sessions are Purchased as a 6-Pack of Sessions.

The first 60 minute session is free and is used as an information gathering session.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

How does hypnosis work

Hypnosis happens automatically anytime a person becomes deeply relaxed or highly focused. It happens when a person daydreams, while driving, reading a book, or watching a movie. Through the use of carefully worded suggestions, a professional hypnotherapist can prompt and fine-tune hypnosis in clients and help them to make changes.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Most clients describe hypnosis as extremely pleasant and deeply relaxing, giving them a feeling of well-being. The most common feelings reported include deep relaxation, a tingly feeling, a feeling of heaviness or sensation of floating, a desire to swallow more, slight body twitches, and a change in breathing pattern. Generally speaking, clients hear and remember most of what is said during the session. They are very aware of their own body and breathing, as well as the temperature of and sound in the room. Most people are actually more (not less) aware of what is going on when they are hypnotised. A very small number of people go so deeply into hypnosis that they have no memory of the session at all, but most hear and remember what went on.

Does hypnosis really work?

Yes, and it is one of the most pleasant and natural therapies available! It puts you in charge of your own mind and your outcomes!

What happens if I stay hypnotised?

Don’t worry, you won’t! You will come out of hypnosis as instructed. Hypnosis (even self-hypnosis) automatically ends in line with your needs and desires.

Do I need to inform my GP?

For many medical issues, it is essential to work with your doctor and obtain their consent before treating medical conditions with hypnosis. Your therapist may need you to obtain consent in writing from your GP depending on your presenting issues  prior to starting therapy work. It is important that you continue to take all medications you have been prescribed and discuss them with your GP as necessary. The hypnotherapist is not a doctor and does not practice medicine or psychiatry.

How long is a session?

All sessions are 60 minutes long. Sessions are purchased as a 6-pack of sessions. The first session is an information gathering session and the remaining 5 sessions are used for hypnosis working on the clients presenting issues.

How will I remember the session?

Your subconscious mind remembers everything! You will often receive a free recording of the individual session for ongoing reinforcement. In group sessions, reinforcement MP4’s will be available.

Is a deep state of hypnosis necessary for the hypnosis to work?

Absolutely not! In most cases, a light state is just as effective as a deep state. In changing attitudes and behaviour, a light state of hypnosis can actually work better because the client is more certain to remember the suggestion given.

Common fallacies of hypnosis.

Contrary to popular belief, you are not asleep or unconscious when hypnotised. Clients do not lose control during the sessions and can freely choose to disregard any suggestions the hypnotherapist makes. Hypnosis makes a person more inclined to do the things they want to do, but not things that go against their own belief systems, morals and values.

What can hypnosis be used for?

Hypnosis can be used for virtually anything. The most common uses of hypnosis include: Stress reduction and sound sleep, Smoking cessation, Weight loss, Traumas and phobias, Exam anxiety and success, Memory and learning skills, Health improvement, IBS, Pain, Pregnancy and childbirth, Athletic enhancement – e.g. Improve your golf, Sexual healing/enhancement, Public speaking and presentations, Creativity and personal power, Self-confidence, Passing your driving test, Sales Motivation, Creative writing, Regression work, and many more, please feel free to inquire.

Can anyone become hypnotised?

Yes, anyone who wants to be hypnotised, can be. It is a very natural reaction.

How many sessions will I need and how much will it cost?

The amount of sessions needed varies from client to client and depends upon an individuals motivation and the type of therapy being sought.  Sessions are sold as 6 -packs, so all clients will have a minimum of 5 sessions with and information gathering meeting before commencing. A comprehensive questionnaire needs to be completed by each client which further provides the therapist with layers of information which will be incorporated into session content. Further 6-packs can be purchased after the initial sessions and these sessions can be spread out and used as preventative maintenance sessions which add great support to the client moving forward.

Can hypnosis be done in group sessions?

Absolutely, many people benefit from group sessions and results can be enhanced for:

•   Smoking cessation

•   Weight loss

•   Corporate sessions

•   Exam anxiety and memory recall

•   Improving your golf (or other game)

•   Confidence & Ego building
